A strong, independent force of residential real estate appraisers is essential to protecting home buyers, especially lower income, elderly and minority home buyers who are disproportionately victims of inflated mortgages.

The Appraisal Advocacy Coalition (AAC) is dedicated to the protection and support of residential appraisers, and ensuring both a healthy housing economy and that the American Dream of home ownership doesn't turn into a nightmare for individuals and families.

Appraisers need a voice in Washington more than ever because the real estate industry and national economy need appraisers more than ever.

As the recent historic housing boom recedes, defaults and foreclosures may profoundly impact America's economy. Appraisers are on the front lines protecting home buyers and the housing market, and deserve all the help they can get in that important effort.

Because appraisers have until now lacked a coherent, credible voice to defend the profession, they wear a bullseye as more powerful interests and lobbies hunker down to protect their members from the consequences of their own irresponsibility.
